Mexican Spiced Fruit Agua Fresca
Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 2 cups fresh fruit (like watermelon, pineapple, or mango), chopped
- 2 tablespoons lime juice (freshly squeezed)
- 2 tablespoons agave syrup or honey (adjust according to sweetness preference)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- In a blender, combine the chopped fresh fruit, lime juice, agave syrup (or honey), and 2 cups of water. Blend until smooth.
- Strain the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a large pitcher, using a spatula to press out the liquid while discarding the pulp.
- Add the remaining 2 cups of water to the pitcher and stir well to combine.
- Mix in the ground cinnamon, chili powder, and salt, adjusting to taste as necessary.
- Chill the agua fresca in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve the agua fresca over ice, garnished with fresh mint leaves if desired.
